Hawaii's NERIS directory lists ten fire departments, and most of what this page could report (type, staffing, stations, population) only comes from a handful of them. That's worth reading plainly instead of rounding up to sound more complete than it is.

About grant applications
Hawaii's own department directory is thin on staffing and call-volume detail, which is the whole subject of this page. An Assistance to Firefighters Grant application asks for something a directory was never built to hold: your department's actual call counts, staffing, and equipment, answered by you rather than looked up in a public file. We won't guess at whether NERIS participation feeds into how that application gets scored — nothing available to us says either way, and a vendor guessing at federal grant rules isn't worth reading. The narrow, checkable part: filling in those application fields from incident reports you've already submitted is less work than rebuilding a year of runs from memory once the application is already open.
